Registration Renewal 2025

Registration renewal opens September 9 and closes November 30. Renew by October 31 to pay the lowest fee.

This article supports LPNs in completing their registration renewal. For complete step-by-step instructions, see our video.

Prepare for Renewal

The following steps will help you prepare for renewal.

1. Make sure you have your email address and password to login to MyCLPNA. Staff do not have access to your password.

If you forget your password, you will have to complete the password reset instructions on the login page. If you no longer have access to the email you used last year, please contact the CLPNA.

2. Gather your current practice hours and employer information from the previous year. All LPNs are required to have worked a minimum of a 1,000 hours in the previous 4-year period (2022-2025) in order to renew.

3. Consider the learning that you did in the past year and think about the learning you want to do in the coming year.

4. Make sure that your payment information is available.

Complete Education Requirement

LPNs are required to complete the CLPNA module, Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct, prior to renewing your registration for 2026. If you have not completed this module before the November 30, 2025, deadline, you may not be able to renew.

PAD Subscribers Still Need to Renew

Subscribers to the Pre-Authorized Debit Plan are still subject to the $200 registration levy if they renew after October 31.

Obtain Professional Liability Insurance

LPNs must obtain insurance every year. Insurance must be obtained separate from registration renewal fees.

On page two of the My Profile section, you can select your option for obtaining the required insurance. If you are planning on purchasing insurance through Lloyd Sadd, click Yes to be taken through the Lloyd Sadd insurance process. When you are finished, a copy of your proof of insurance will be provided directly to the CLPNA.

If you have chosen an alternate insurer, please upload a copy of your documents in this section.

Employer Information

Under the Employer Information section, you can update your employment status. If you state that you are employed, you must list at least one employer. Employment and retirement information is collected for the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) to support workforce planning and other reporting.

Methods of Care

Under “Methods of Care,” tell us how you most often interact with clients in your primary practice setting. Choose the answer that fits the best.

» Continuing Competence Learning Plans

Your learning plans for 2025 and 2026 need to connect to one of the four standards in the Standards of Practice for LPNs in Canada. Each standard has multiple indicators underneath.

VIEW THE STANDARDS OF PRACTICE

You’ll need to be able to describe a connection between the learning you completed and the standard and indicator that you selected. Note that there is not a single right answer. The standards are broad concepts, and there may be more than one right answer. Select the single standard and indicator that you think work best.

Learning Plan 2025

You will need to provide information on the continuing competence goals that you completed or will complete by the end of November. These goals may be the same as the ones you indicated at renewal last year, or they may have changed. We recommend reporting on three goals, with two goals being the minimum

Learning Plan 2026

In the next section, you’ll select the learning that you plan to do in the following registration year. This is an opportunity to reflect on topics that you’d like to learn more about. The Standards of Practice for LPNs in Canada cover a wide range of practice areas for LPNs, including but not limited to clinical skills, leadership, policy development, fitness to practice, and learning related to regulatory responsibilities.

Once you have answered all of the questions, review the text under the “Registration Declaration” heading, and click the box at the bottom to acknowledge. Then you’re ready to complete your Registration Renewal Form by clicking the Submit button.

» Payment

You may be able to pay at this time. However, if your renewal form needs to be reviewed the CLPNA, you will need to wait until you receive an email that tells you when you can pay.

It is always good to check your junk mail and to login periodically in case an email might have been missed.
